Bodies of Missing lawyer Willie Kimani, taxi driver found dead in Ol-Donyo Sabuk

Detectives and forensic police officers at Athi River near where the bodies of missing lawyer Willie Kariuki, taxi driver Joseph Muiruri were retrieved, July 1, 2016.

Bodies identified as those of missing legal counselor Willie Kimani and cab driver Joseph Muiruri were on Friday found in a river in Ol-Donyo Sabuk, Machakos County. The two bodies have been transferred to City Mortuary in Nairobi. A third body, thought to be that of Mr Kimani's client Josphat Mwenda, slipped once more into the waterway.

Directorate of Criminal Investigations boss Ndegwa Muhoro said endeavors to recover the missing body are under way. At City Mortuary, the superintendent in charge said two bodies were brought by police at 8.15am from Ol-Donyo Sabuk. Some of the morgue attendents  said the bodies were found with their hands tied behind their backs.

The records at the funeral home shows that the cause for their death was suffocating. Law Society of Kenya Advocate Dan Kinuthia said the two were extremely beaten and choked. Their bodies are swollen and could be better, he said. He said he identified the attorney, "because he was my friend. He was a tiny guy but his body is too swollen ... likely they killed him a long time ago," he said outside the funeral home. The second body, Mr Kinuthia said, was whipped, had an ear missing and the situation is practically hopeless with a sisal rope.

    COURT HEARING

Prior on Friday, a court had given Police Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations up to 2pm to issue a between time report on the status of examinations over the vanishing of the three individuals.

The three were suspected to have been been abducted  byAdministration Police (AP) officers on June 23. The court heard that the missing were most recently seen entering the Syokimau AP camp in Machakos County before they vanished. Amid the hearing, legal advisors needed the administration to be constrained to uncover their whereabouts. They told the trial court that it is the obligation of the State and agent organizations to guarantee the wellbeing of its subjects.
