The Gusii Community at large has shown some upcoming serious talents in the recent years since the dismissal of one of the legends who took over the Gusii at large by his hit makers, the late Nyang’au Ye egetonto. Having gone through a lot of research we have got one upcoming talent on the Folk music Industry of Gusii at larger. Is little known to many but he has done great works in the Folks music fraternity. Steve Momanyi Nyatigo from Ibara Village, Kiabonyoru location, Nyamira County, born in 27 July1981, Being the last born of Nyatigo’s family of eight (8) members four (4) boys and four (4) girls. His later father Mr. Lawrance Nyatigo married to the late Magrate Kemunto as the 1st wife and his mother Keremensia Kerebi who is second wife of Nyatigo family.
Talent
His music talent started to show-up while in primary school where he was playing Obokano (8 stringed music instrument) and solo some items while in Ibara Primary schools,
He lead the school performance to provincial level severally, he was enjoying it but not that much serious with it. After his daddy passed away on 27th Dec1998 his life changed completely.

He successfully completed the primary education and joined Nyangoge Secondary School. He explored more on his talent and put more effort on his music talent and was the best in the school music team and also performed with other students for the school benefits. He successfully completed his O’Level and started farming for one year and later joined St. Joseph The Worker Polytechnic School Nairobi and attained Grade 3 in Carpentry. Having attained good skills from the Carpentry course he started doing local contracts in his Village he developed chest problem.

Having the talent for music, he started training schools during Music Festivals in the company of Erastus Onkundi, Evans Obwoge, Walter Ayiecha and Albert Oira Agonya. They worked as a team for the better of the school’s performance on the music Festivals. They helped schools like, Kabatia Primay School, Kebirigo Secondary, Rirumi Secondary and Nyangoge Secondary School to national level several times where he had stiff competions from His colleagues Eliud Kenanda and Ombori Omayio
In the year 2003, he was so eager to produce his first folk music but he had no promoter to help him go throught the process till the year 2010 when he managed to produce his flok music Volume1 Album Titled OBOGIMA NEGESICHA (VCD/DVD/CD) with Hits like Obuya Bwabaiboiri, Indiriraike, Nsemie bono, Mwainyora Inkaa, Obogotu Ngesango e.t.c. Under the Group Name ENGUBA KAMBA NANE, consisting of Patron Wilfred Nyakundi, Coordinators Dickson, Job, Aruasa, adviser Gilbert Atunga Onduko, Steve nyatigo composer &1st Vocal Peter Nyakango (keyboard), Lawrence Nyandega (2nd Vocal) , Francis Onywoki (3rd vocal)
In the year 2012 he produced his Second Volume Titled OMOPIRA OMOTINDI (VCD/DVD/CD) where this song was a hit and others like Esafari Nesafari, Enguba Line-up, Obosemeia bwane, Chintakana rema, Ekeruri giansiririe etc.
March this year he also produced Vol 3, titled OBWACHANI which is picking nicely with hits like Karibu Nyamira, Tochaya obwomonto, Engocho, Kare na bono Amasomo,Sira ebiegwa Getena, Kakaa atandi etc.
He has been doing all thiswith the grace of God and support from friends and family and I quote his statement, “I thank God for this wonderful talent. I have performed several functions around the country i.e Gusii Land, Coastal region, Rift valley Nairobi e.t.c.
