I have held myself in humble and thoughtful silence for some time since the untimely, regrettable and unfortunate death of Salome Omanga. Am more saddened that her death together with her newborn baby at Nyamira General Hospital comes at time that we are joining hands to fight for better service delivery in our county especially to women.
As a medic and a leader, I regret the sad state of our health facilities in our county. It’s quite disconsolate of the low commitment of our human resource entrusted to prevent, protect and save lives of our citizens.
Maternal death at this era is indeed insupportable especially when we are all aware that the government through the office of the first lady in conjunction with a number of international organizations has invested a lot of money to curb maternal health. Around the world, one woman dies every 90 seconds in pregnancy or childbirth - that's more than 350,000 women every year.
The vast majority of these deaths are preventable. Women are not dying of diseases we can't treat... They are dying because societies have yet to make the decision that their lives are worth saving.
Most sincerely, let me register my commiseration to my brother, my great confidant and friend Nyangenya Bwomanga. I know it’s indeed a sad and unbearable time for you Mheshimiwa but you are strong enough to bear.

Indeed there’s no one that can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. However, take comfort in knowing that she is now resting in the arms of our Lord.
Prayers and fond memories are what we have to remember our dearly departed. May the love of family and friends comfort you during these difficult days.
Lastly, as we remember the family in prayers, also remember to pray for our county. So that we can have a focused leadership committed to serve the people with heart and passion.
May the love and mercy of our Lord be bestowed upon you and your family during this unfortunate time.
