The Sad Story Of Our Kenyan Sister Held Up In Jordan And Facing Death Sentence

18 Months raising awareness against Oppression of Kenyan migrant workers in the Middle East, having witnessed dozens of people tortured, killed especially Domestic workers, the trend seems to be getting worse by the day. Like I mentioned on my Livestream today, I am at a point where am about to just give up, since providing panadol Solutions is not making the situation better. Unless a bilateral pact is signed between Kenya and Middle East Nations, this menace will not end like this new case.

Her names are Lilian Wanjiru Macharia, daughter of Nancy Nyokabi Macharia and Ezekiel Macharia Nderitu. She is a mother to a 4 year old boy Ezekiel Macharia. Having worked in Jordan for a year, Lilian was woken up to her surprise by her employer who accused her of theft. This led to her being beaten and tortured and for hours during which they even asked her how she would prefer to be murdered (Gunshot, Fire or Hanging with a rope!!). They oppressors even used a hot iron, a knife as they tried to force her to confess that she had stolen the money. After hours of torture, Wanjiru was locked up in a toilette as the host family waited for someone who was to come and execute the killing order. It is then that she opened the window and screamed to which luckily the neighbor heard and came to her rescue. But that was not the end of it all

She is now held up in a rescue office in Amman. According to Lilian, they have urged her to pay 180,000 kshs which was allegedly stolen and also to fund her flight ticket. How? How is this possible? Lilian hails from a poor family, she has no savings and the worst part is she is INNOCENT! Failure to meet this demands, Lilian faces prosecution in court to which she could face death sentence or have both her hands chopped off (according to the Islamic Sheria Law).

This is a clear case of violation of human rights. We as Kenyans appeal to the Kenyan Government to intervene and rescue her. The ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Kenyan Embassy in Jordan, The Office Of the President, you have the mighty power! Stand up and fight for this innocent soul. Those who watched the Livestream interview on my Facebook page, you heard it all. She is desperate, in Fear and the thought of facing death sentence in a foreign country for a crime she did not commit is simply sickening!

We stand up for Lilian. Please share this article and the hashtag is #LilianMustBeFree, #tumechoka #VOO. Thank you very much.
