Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi has dismissed calls by members of the National Super Alliance (Nasa) to have a list of alliance leadership overturned.
He told the opposition MPs that the matter was not within his purview and advised them to seek the intervention of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal (PPDT).
The MPs from Wiper, Amani National Congress and some ODM MPs from the Coast region want the team of John Mbadi, Minority Leader, Robert Mbui (Kathiani) as his deputy, Junet Mohammed of Suna East as the Minority Whip and Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa as his deputy, overturned and a fresh one prepared.
They said the list lacked regional balance and gender parity contrary to the principles of the Constitution. Muturi, however, said he was only required to receive the list accompanied by minutes of the parliamentary group meeting where the leadership was agreed.
