Nyamira residents have vowed to take to the streets on Monday 15th August 2016 to protest poor health services and reckless death of patients in the hospital. This follows the death of a woman and her baby at the hospital due to negligence of doctors and nurses in the hospital.
The residents have vowed to march from Konate to Nyamira and occupy the county offices and smoke out the health minister, chief officer and all other officials in the ministry. They will then march to the Nyamira Hospital where they will show their displeasure to the health officers in the hospitals.
“we are not going to allow people to joke with people’s lives. We must hold this irresponsible county government responsible of the death of this mother and her baby. We are aware of the corruption scandals in the ministry. We want the officers out. Nothing less.” Said one of the organizers of the demo who sought anonymity.
The residents will again form a procession on Thursday to the Nyamira General Hospital as they take the body of the deceased home for burial.
